About

Samatva denotes an inner state of harmony and balance. It is the capacity to treat good and bad without judgment, equally - with evenness, balance and equanimity of mind. You may be a computer nerd, a player, a teacher, a student or a homemaker - it doesn't matter who you are or what you do.What really matters is whether you possess balance - balance in every single thing you do; from the way you breathe, to the way you eat or live. Every part of your life must have this crucial element of balance. Loss of balance could dramatically reduce the quality of one's life and eventually manifest as serious mental health problems.Life can be relentless in the challenges it throws your way, making the path slippery and treacherous to walk upon. It is very easy to slip and slide and lose balance. Hence, it is important that we tread carefully, figuring out how to keep your balance. We merely need to pause to consider where the balance lies with each thing, what has disturbed the balance and then, decide if there is a way to personally restore it, to bring back samatva in our lives, which is our state of psychological well-being.Take heart, you don't have to do this difficult task alone. At Samatva, we care for your well-being. We offer guidance and support to help you regain and recover your sense of balance, your inner harmony and equanimity, through counselling, psychotherapy and cognitive behaviour therapy.

Importance of Listening

Viktor Frankl, one of the great psychotherapists of the twentieth century, survived the death camps of Nazi Germany. His little book, Man’s Search for Meaning, is one of those life-changing books that everyone should read.Frankl once told the story of a woman who called him in the middle of the night to calmly inform him she was about to commit suicide. Frankl kept her on the phone and talked her through her depression, giving her reason after reason to carry on living. Finally she promised she would not take her life, and she kept her word. When they later met, Frankl asked which reason had persuaded her to live?
"None of them", she told him.
What then influenced her to go on living? he pressed.
Her answer was simple - it was Frankl’s willingness to listen to her in the middle of the night.
A world in which there was someone ready to listen to another's pain seemed to her a world in which it was worthwhile to live.Often, it is not the brilliant argument that makes the difference. Sometimes the small act of listening is the greatest gift we can give.WE ARE READY TO LISTEN !!!!!
